Project Overview

La Bella Apartments is a new affordable housing community under development at 1020 Terra Bella Avenue in Mountain View. Conveniently located near public transit, employment centers, shopping, and community amenities, La Bella will provide high-quality, affordable homes for individuals and families.

The six-story community will include 108 apartment homes, offering studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. Of these, 27 homes will be designated as Rapid Rehousing units to help individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, and 23 homes will include Section 8 Project-Based Vouchers, providing long-term housing stability for residents.

Funding for this community has been provided by:  City of Mountain View and Santa Clara County.  We also gratefully acknowledge a land donation from Public Storage.

La Bella is thoughtfully designed to foster a strong sense of community and enhance residents’ quality of life. Amenities will include:

  • A spacious community room opening onto a landscaped third-floor courtyard

  • Children’s play areas and raised garden beds for community gardening

  • On-site laundry facilities

  • Offices for property management, resident services, and supportive services staff

  • Secure storage space for every apartment

The community is also being designed with sustainability in mind. La Bella will be an all-electric building and will incorporate rooftop solar photovoltaic panels to maximize on-site renewable energy generation and reduce its environmental impact.

Construction Phase

Construction begins Fall 2026 and should be complete by Spring 2028.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are typical construction hours?

Typical active construction hours will take place between 7:00 a.m.  – 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

What impacts will construction have on that area and parking?

During construction, nearby neighbors can expect some temporary activity such as noise, truck traffic, and dust, which is typical for any building project. The development team will follow strict City of Mountain View rules designed to minimize disruption. Construction will take place only during approved hours, and crews will use dust control measures like spraying water on loose soil and covering trucks to keep air and streets clean. Equipment will be well-maintained and muffled as required. Access routes will be managed to reduce congestion and avoid blocking nearby homes and businesses.

How much on-site parking will La Bella have?

La Bella Apartments will have 96 car parking spaces and 108 biking parking spots.

Does the building encourage other forms of transportation?

Yes. La Bella Apartments is designed to make it easier for residents to choose alternatives to driving. The community will feature a secure ground-floor bicycle lounge with overnight bike storage, making cycling a convenient option for everyday transportation.

La Bella will also implement a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program, which encourages the use of public transit, bicycling, walking, carpooling, and other sustainable transportation options. A dedicated Transportation Demand Management Coordinator will provide residents with transit information, transportation benefits such as transit passes, and personalized assistance in identifying convenient ways to travel throughout the community.
