Every day, Alta’s Resident Services team works on the front lines to help residents access critical resources and remain housed. They step in during moments of crisis restoring stability, dignity, and hope.
Resident Services Coordinator Yudi Barron shared one of her more meaningful experiences from 2025.
K, a longtime Alta resident, was surviving on just $130 of Social Security income a month after his long-timepartner died. K was grieving and feeling very alone. Distrustful of systems that had failed him before, he stopped paying rent and quietly began preparing for life on the streets.
When Yudi learned he was facing eviction, she persisted—even when he initially refused help. Through consistent outreach and patience, she earned his trust. Together, they secured emergency rental assistance and successfully appealed his Social Security benefits, increasing his income to nearly $1,000 a month.
When K. realized he would not lose his home, he cried.
The difference between homelessness and stability is often one person who shows up, stays, and helps someone find their footing again. This is how the work is done, and we are grateful to be part of it.
