Opportunity Fund Scholarships are available to Alta Housing residents with financial support to invest in their future through higher education. Residents who are 22 or older and have lived in Alta Housing communities for a year or longer will be able to apply for scholarships to help them advance their careers. These scholarships can be used for certificate programs, community college or a four-year degree. It is our hope that Alta Housing residents will use these funds to achieve career advancement and with that the ability to pursue other housing choices.
The Opportunity Fund was created in honor of PAH Board Member, Jean Dawes who has been an advocate for affordable housing and the pursuit of higher education for over 40 years. After serving on the PAH Board for over 30 years, Jean stepped down in May 2019 to chair the Alta Housing Advisory Council.
Application deadline is June 15, 2019.
Who can apply? Any Alta Housing resident who is 22 years or older and enrolled or planning to take a certificate degree or college level classes (at community college or a four year school). The applicant must be living in a Alta Housing community for at least a year.
Application process: Applicant must (1) fill out an online application for committee to review, (2) provide at least one recommendation (may provide an additional recommendation) and (3) provide proof of program or college enrollment– acceptance letter, enrollment form, need to show proof of grade for any future funding. This proof can be a paper trail of their application, copy of their application or registration.
